Why dont the view option work?

I'm trying to get these icons to load and work, things like cut, copy, past, etc.. I'm selecting the buttons and nothing is working.

Also, I noticed that when I select one of the icons, like the Magnifer fo example, in the line that says, "Command:" cmd_ZoomIn appears
But in the next line that says, "Icon file:" I'm not sure where or what I am supposed to browse to.

Okay, I'm embarrassed to explain this but I owe it I feel.
"view mode" I just discovered what "view mode is"
yes, this does work in the "view mode"
I was under them impression that the screenshot I posted was the "view mode" oops, sorry for the misunderstanding, at any rate 'm slowly getting the hang of XnView and I love it, this is the program for me. I'm using it more or less to see my art before I open it in Photo shop or Paint shop, more or less as a way to keep my files organized.


Last question? Is there a way to edit and or add functions to the small tool bar that you can make appear above the thumbnails? I'm not talking about "view mode" I mean the interface that preloads with XnView. I hope this question makes sense.
