Portable XnView

Post by mrwul »

I am a newbie here. I know there is a thread on Portable XnView http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=47
However, there it says "... minimum of files and is about 900 KB in size."

I have downloaded XnView Portable 1.97.2 from Portable Apps (XnViewPortable_1.97.2.paf.exe), it runs fine.
Have just been using it for the first time and am really very much impressed!!

The .paf file is over 4MB large and once extracted it is close to 20MB.
So I assume there are a major differences between the 'minimal setup' and this one...?

I wonder how to update the 1.97.2 to 1.97.4 and still keep it portable (no registry entries, etc)
(btw frankly I don't care if the portable app is 20MB or 1MB as long as it is portable  )

Thanks for this wonderful application!

Thanks!
No problem...

Just assumed that you were aware of the .paf file and how it was/is created
as at the bottom of the site it says
"XnView Portable is packaged with permission of Pierre.e Gougelet."

Indeed, comparing XnView minimal version with the .paf-version there are some slight differences.

Have been working for just a short while with the .paf-version and noticed a xnview.db of well over 300mb.

Whatever..
It is a great application!

Has the cache been packaged into the paf file?!?! Or did the cache build up while you were using XnView? What's the size of the .paf file? If there's really a 300MB cache file included, the creator of the .paf file should be divided into four parts.

Please find a small update in topic Minimal installation (Windows).
