A preview window when working with photo's

I find that I have done a lot of trials and deletes. I think a small preview window would help when trying effects or adding labels to a photo. Have the window show effects of using a parameter change but no real transformation yet. This would permit a trial and error approach to making changes. Don't like the results of a parameter change just go back and redo that parameter. Now the preview will show that change. When all things seem to be what you want, then do the final transformation. This would certainly be similar to my trials and deletes but I won't need to remember all the steps and parameters for each variation. Just change the ones that need changed until the preview screen says we are ready for the final transformation.
