Hi all,
The ability to view archive files while is neat in XnView, it's still largely unusable. Have you guys been looking into it?
The major problem with XnView for me is that when opening pictures from an archive file, it only extract that picture and store it in the temp folder (and doesn't nuke them after closing XnView, which is bad for portable version). What worse is that when exit from the viewer to return to the browser, it automatically extend to that temp file (now the user have to navigate all the way back to wherever folder they came from--which is really inconvenience for users).
What I want to request is that when viewing pictures from an archive file, XnView should queue in the next/previous into cache so that the user can don't have to deal with the inconvenience mentioned above. XnView should browse archive files like it does with a folder. Then when the user closes XnView, it should nuke all those temp files. Other programs I use including a free Korean program called Imagine (http://bit.ly/dcK49a) does this feature perfectly. Though they have their drawbacks too, which is why I prefer to use XnView when possible.
I know there has been people asking for this to be fixed/added/implement in the pass on this board. So, I'm hoping you guys can put this in the to-do list for the next couple release if possible. BUt I know it's also a lot of work if you guys are gonna implement what I'm asking. In the mean time, I'm using Imagine whenever I dealing with archive files.
,best of luck
