why can't edit IPTC data on my canon raw files?

Hi
why can't i edit IPTC data on my canon raw files?
i can i do with jpg files
is there an option to enable?
i guess xnview could use exiftool that can do it

it could write a xmp for the canon raw file (*.cr2)

??? No XnViewMediaDetector can't edit RAW files...
