[Fixed in RC6] "EXIF: Flash mode"
I like to request the additional thumbnail label EXIF: Flash mode
With this label it should be easier to compare two pictures of the same object - one taken with, the other without flash.

Yes, you did! Thanks Pierre.xnview wrote:Ok, i'll add itLesmo16 wrote:I like to request the additional thumbnail label EXIF: Flash mode

Unfortunately there is a little 'but':

You've built in the EXIF tag [0xb001c] (Flash activity), which returns "fired" or "not fired".
What I've meant is the EXIF tag [0x9209] (Flash), which returns "On, Auto mode", "Off, Auto mode", ....
This tag gives information if the flash was fired and additionally which mode was used.

Re: [REQ:] Thumbnail label "EXIF: Flash mode"
No, i use the EXIF tag 0x9209, and there is no 0xb001c tag...Lesmo16 wrote:Yes, you did! Thanks Pierre.xnview wrote:Ok, i'll add itLesmo16 wrote:I like to request the additional thumbnail label EXIF: Flash mode

Pierre.
Then tag 0xb001c must be from my Canon Ixus 400.xnview wrote:No, i use the EXIF tag 0x9209, and there is no 0xb001c tag...

-----------------------------------
I found this about flag 0x9209 - perhaps it's useful for you.
PropertyTagExifFlash - Flash status.
This tag is recorded when an image is taken using a strobe light (flash). Bit 0 indicates the flash firing status, and
bits 1 and 2 indicate the flash return status.
Tag 0x9209 - Type PropertyTagTypeShort - Count 1
Values for bit 0 that indicate whether the flash fired:
0b - flash did not fire
1b - flash fired
Values for bits 1 and 2 that indicate the status of returned light:
00b - no strobe return detection function
01b - reserved
10b - strobe return light not detected
11b - strobe return light detected
Resulting flash tag values:
0x0000 - flash did not fire
0x0001 - flash fired
0x0005 - strobe return light not detected

Lesmo16 wrote:Would you please change the shown string form "Not fired" to "No Flash"
This is the last state.xnview wrote:ok
I understood Pierre's OK, as if we can await this small correction in RC6.
So please decide what to do with this thread, because I don't know the modalities.
