xnview shell extension on Vista?

Hi guys!

I didn`t know you are developing such a great tool like XNView! I accidentally found it few days ago!

Well here is my problem:

- When I was using WindowsXP, I lived with AcdSee and its PicaView [shell extension, the same as XNView's one!].

But then I had to move on and upgrade PCs... and CS5 packages does not work on XP so I had to install Vista [I didn`t want to move to Windows7 as I tested - PicaView does not work there].

- So I found ACDSee clone for free - XNView and installed it.

Now goes question:

- How can I use ACDSee and XNView's Shell Extension on my new system Windows Vista x64?

On Windows7 - XNView's Shell Extension works in 30% cases - it just won`t open image preview on each click. I believe it works only when I use Open or SaveAs window and from there I am able [in 50% cases] to open image in Explorer.

Also PicaView opened few times on Vista, but has problems with latest ACDSee

Any ideas? I really love PicaView and now its clone - XNShellExtension.

How can I make it work on my Vista?

30%?? How that? No preview on picture file?? Which format?

Any format. I mostly use it for PSD, JPG and GIF previews - no luck. It just will not open on Windows7 [and now on Vista 64]. It SOMETIMES can be opened when for example you go to, for example, Photoshop, play with image and go SaveAs and when new SaveAs window is opened - I CAN from THAT ["save as"] window open with right mouse click - Image Preview.

Also PicaView can be seen the same way. But not always. I can not be sure why, but I tried on various systems - no luck.

Maybe there is something to be seen, disabled or something in Windows Vista or 7 ["GodMode"?], so we can force ShellExtension to work every time I RightClick on Image?

Nope. Not working at all [for now in Vista] and at work 30% works from Windows 7...

There at Win7 machine, I have installed just XNView for images and ShellExtension [to "emulate" PicaView] from Explorer - but it works very rarely.

Can you go and open directory full of images [displayed as thumbnails] in Win7 and rightclick on image thumbnail - can you see the same image thumbnail in WindowsExplorer right-clicked window?

I found it where it works and where not:

RightClick On WindowsExplorer system - XNShell does not work

RightClick on image file from TotalCommander - XNShell DOES WORK!

I can share you images but - is there option to send you snapshots via this forum? I use Opera, but it seems I can not upload image here?

Sorry for the mixup. I downloaded 64-bit version and it works.

And one last post from me for now

64bit version works PERFECTLY!!!
Now I have XNViewShellExtension 64bit working on Vista for RightClick, XNView for quick image view and ACDSee for all other views. Working all great together!

Thank you, guy for developing this amazing program! You saved my life and Vista is usable again for graphic and web design work!

p.s. would be great if you know for some good dll's or extensions for displaying .PSD, .AI and TIFF files as system windows thumbnails?
