Filename descriptions mismatched

Post by marsh »

Filename's template menu have items which are not well matched. {Filename} is described as 'Filename without extension' instead of 'Filename' (which is being used for {Filename With Extension}).

Choosing "Filename" with insert button does not use "{Filename}" in template. Different than v.1.98's filename items.

'Filename with extension' since it resembles style which batch renamer uses.

Labels 'Name and suffix' & 'Name' would dodge these points. :)

So what is the better :)

Filename with extension / Filename
Filename / Filename without extension
Filename & extension / Filename
Name & extension / Name

I'm glad you brought this issue up, marsh.

XnView v1.9
  • Tools » Options... » Browser » Browser » Show tooltips
    • Filename with extension ~ <Filename With Ext>
      Filename ~ <Filename>
    Tools » Options... » Browser » Thumbnails » Thumbnail Label
    • Filename
      Filename (without extension)
XnView^MP v0.35 beta
  • Tools » Settings... » Browser » Browser » Use tooltips
    • Filename ~ {Filename With Ext}
      Filename without extension ~ {Filename}
    Tools » Settings... » Browser » Thumbail » Labels
    • Filename
      Filename (without extension)
We need a unified nomenclature in XnView, XnView^MP, and XnConvert for...
  • Browser labels
  • Browser tooltips
  • Title bar info
  • Fullscreen info
  • Contact sheet info
  • Web page info
