xnview and Nikon D7000 just dont work
I used xnview for years, excellent viewer. But since I got my Nikon D7000, I found out xnview cannot open fluently images taken with this camera. Any other camera I used (various Nikons, cannons etc.) it was OK, however Nikon D7000 images (not only NEF/raw, but even simple JPG) make a big problem for the viewer (looong time between changing the next image, even longer time to close the program, not responding, etc.
Why' that? Picassa, win image viewer have absolutely no problem to work with the same images.

Re: xnview and Nikon D7000 just dont work
And the size in pixels of images with previous camera is the same?
Pierre.
Re: xnview and Nikon D7000 just dont work
These two images are not resized in PC, they're both directly from camera D7000 (first original is "Large" size, second image original Medium size as in camera setting).
I checked also images from D3100 - no problem to handle them for Xnview. D60 no problem, D90 no problem
Compact camera Canon G7 no problem.

Re: xnview and Nikon D7000 just dont work
I means, images of D60, D90 & D7000 has the same pixel size??
When you view picture, are you in fullscreen? in view mode?

Re: xnview and Nikon D7000 just dont work
no, D7000 has largest sensor of those. However, even medium size image from D7000 (that match to the default "large" size category of D90, D3100) makes the problem for viewer.

Re: xnview and Nikon D7000 just dont work
sure. d7000 image (largest possible JPEG)is in first post. I could also send a NEF file, but its 15+Mb and its quite difficult to share that size on-line (perhaps if you could advise some server that can accept such size of image)..

In a folder, put D3100 file & D7000 (smallest one), open a file in view mode
Press Previous/next file, which delay do you have to view D3100 and D7000?
Which version of XnView do you use?

I did so. The delay was acceptable (not a flashlight) but quick (I estimate under 1 second).
I even did another attempt: I put 2 small D7000 images (those that has a size approx.1.4Mb, 2464x1632) into a new folder within the original folder where they are usually located - delay was OK (similar to D3100 and D7000 images in the same/new folder as in test1). However, the same two images (D7000) in their original folder (where all other images are located - there is approx 100 images and several other subfolders with a few images) have a delay more than 6-7 seconds.
Xn version june 2011 1.98.1
Re: xnview and Nikon D7000 just dont work
Strange, 6/7 seconds to load next image file all the time? Or only the first time?xaxaxa wrote:However, the same two images (D7000) in their original folder (where all other images are located - there is approx 100 images and several other subfolders with a few images) have a delay more than 6-7 seconds.

Re: xnview and Nikon D7000 just dont work
I tried it now: opened first image in a folder, clicked next - took 7 second to display 2nd image (in view mode), 3rd image displayed immediately, so was 4th, 5th.. at 5th image I clicked "back" and it again took up to 6 seconds to display 4th image, then 3rd, 2dn 1st was OK.xnview wrote:Strange, 6/7 seconds to load next image file all the time? Btw. time to display NEF after JPG is approx. 7-8 seconds.
note: might it be influenced by the fact that some of images are shot as sRGB, some as adobe RGB? or perhaps that the JPGs and NEFs are usually mixed together in one folder?
note2: now it worked quite Ok for I while. But then I tried win.photo viewer (with installed nef plugin) and it significantly quicker - jpg->jpg minimum delay, jpg-nef 1 second (its approx same delay as in xnvew jpg->jpg when it works occasionally OK). Weird. Wish the Xnview works as quickly as win photo viewer..
Re: xnview and Nikon D7000 just dont work
So if you have a folder with 5 D7000 files, you can reproduce the problem?
For RAW files, i think that you have same delay with previous version. So you need here to change option/View/Misc>Camera RAW - Embedded thumbnail
In browser, which sort do you use?
Do you use Option/ViewMisc>Read ahead & Cache behind?
Do you use Option/General>ICC?

Re: xnview and Nikon D7000 just dont work
Do you mean to put those 5 D7000 images into new folder? I tried it, works OK - both forward and backward browsing is fluent. However, the same 5 D7000 images in theirs original folder (where is rest of images located, there is 100 images as I told earlier), it does not work (big delay). Even when I open just one image and do not go to next, I just immediately close the xnviewer, it takes at least 6-7 second to close it.xnview wrote:So if you have a folder with 5 D7000 files, you can reproduce the problem?
I adjusted to "embedded thumbnail", I had "standard size". It pretty fluent and quick now!For RAW files, i think that you have same delay with previous version. So you need here to change option/View/Misc>Camera RAW - Embedded thumbnail
I did not change any of tehse setting. Since I do not have an EN version of the browser, I suppose (based on my translation) I use "read behind"In browser, which sort do you use?

No. Should I change it?Do you use Option/General>ICC?
