MP 0.38.7 Win: Address bar / folder tree bug

Post by JohnFredC »

After typing a location into the "mini toolbar" address box, the file panel navigates to the typed path properly but the folder tree does not.

Hi Pierre

It seems to be related to whether the folder in question is a hidden or system folder AND the MP file list settings exclude hidden files...

To reproduce:
  • 1. In a file manager, set an image folder's attribute to "hidden".
    2. In MP, deselect "Show hidden files and folders".
    3. In the Browser, use the tree to navigate to any visible (i.e., not hidden) image folder.
    4. In the address box of the mini-toolbar, type or paste the path of the hidden folder (from #1).
    5. Observe that the file list navigates to the hidden folder.
    6. Observe that the tree does not navigate to the hidden folder.
I'm not sure what should be the proper action here, but IMO the tree should always correctly match the address box.

If the hidden attribute is deselected in the file list options, perhaps the tree could simply display the text "hidden folder" when the user pastes (or types) a hidden path into the address box.

Hello,
I'm not sure what should be the appropriate action here, but IMO, the tree must always correctly match the address box.
I'm not sure of that with respect to this type of program!
I think if it is decided not to access the hidden files, they must be the same in the visual tree. This is actually an advantage in terms of the program.
Y does it in XnView one action that would require that "all" the files are visible?

Reading the bar should not display the file path if it is contained in a hidden folder: <Accès refused !>

It is an opinion of course

Bonjour,
