Constant crash on DDS extension files

Using latest XNview 1.98.2

Operating system Windows 7 64bit. XNview always run in user mode not admin.
(except a few times to be sure XNview options were being set as desired)

Instant crash when attempting a folder view of folders containing file extension of .DDS

In this case the files are Fallout New Vegas .dds data files (a game)
In this case I don't even care to display the thumbnails of these files as I was attempting to display in browser mode the JPG
files in the same directory.

So I went into XNView options but could find NO association with DDS to disable. DDS is not even listed.
So I then began UN-associating virtually everything except the basics, JPG types, some BMP types , GIF, Targa types.

No joy, still crashes as if trying to load something and it has to do with the .DDS files.

So then I find options in Thumbnail section to disable and I disabled 'Use Embedded Thumbnail'
I also go into 'Browser, File List' section and with a hatchet remove check marks from
"All Other Files"
"Custom Files"
"Archives"

Still crashes when XNview attempts to view any folder with the above mentioned .DDS files.
It appears to be loading thumbnails of said files when the crash occurs.

I'm stumped.
To restate, I don't care to display these .DDS files in XNView (though that would be nice) What I want is for it to not crash
just as soon as I attempt to browse said folder while looking for JPG and BMP type files.

I've done all I know to attempt to force xnview to not attempt to load thumbnails of files it isn't even supposed to be looking at, at least according to the settings I see in options.

This is an addendum afterward.
I just discovered something odd. Some of the directories containing the above extension files .dds do not cause xnview to crash.
Others DO. So it is just something odd perhaps in some of the DDS files that are used with Fallout New Vegas mods.

Still , I would want to know HOW TO FORCE xnview to ignore such files. I can see no extension association listed in xnview options for DDS.

You can add DDS in the 'custom files' field in options/File list

EDIt. Doh, just had a bright idea.

The file I got from http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/ ... p?id=43959
is called 'French Nevada Nail Studio. Inside are the problematic DDS files .
If I can't send them here for some reason that is where I got the files.
In the download section there will be multiple pack option downloads. I can gurantee the 'Dream' Pack has files that cause a crash.
The other packs also cause the problem but you probably only need the first one, "dream'.
