Directory size in status bar request

One of my uses for XnView is when I'm juggling my photos/videos I've recently taken into 4.7Gb sized chunks to write to DVD for archive.
Partly because I can see what I'm grouping together well, partly because XnView is far more robust than Windoze(Vista) Explorer to renaming the directories.

It would really help in XnView showed the size of the currently selected directory in the status bar, rather than having to keep on right-clicking and selecting properties.

Of course, if there's a way to do that already that has passed me by, please do tell me I'm a fool, and how to do it

Even better would be an "archive media ruler" with advice how the selected directories/files matched standard CD & DVD archive chunks (how much over/under) - but I'm probably asking rather more, there.

Yes, like that - if that does the same even if the directory view is just another set of directories (you show actual pictures).
But your not suggesting I use another viewer, are you ?

Nope, I also want this in xnview (and some other features), it was just to show how I hope it would be implemented.

I'm waiting to migrate from fsviewer to xnview, but in the meantime...

When I was using XnV yesterday, it also occurred to me that it would really help if any directory in a listing could have the "size" field filled with the appropriate figure, ie here;
