Post by marsh »

Start in browser mode. Press F11, program exits/crashes.

Not normal to do, but…

:)
- Right, confirmed; that occurs only when not any pic is displayed as Preview, or when pressing F11 while nothing at all is selected / displayed.

- Of course, it isn't normal to press F11 in such cases, but a mishandling is pretty possible, and these errors might be planned : nothing might happen, IMHO.

I can confirm this bug (the fix however, could be left until v1.81)

Lesmo16,
This is hardly a life threatening bug, how many people will fire up XnView and press F11 without first having a file selected?

At this stage, it should be postphoned until a later version.

It's not just at startup, also after moving to an other folder.

EDIT: Pierre, would a possible solution be that pressing F11, when no thumb is having focus, results in highlighting the first thumbnail and then opening it in quick-fullscreen?

That's your opinion, OK. But why?

You've stated your opinion in several other threads. :?

I don't know about your special motivation, but it seems that Pierre luckily hasn't the same problems. 8)

Because no-one in his right mind would enter fullscreen when nothing is highlighted :)
I agree that crashes are bad though, you loose all your tabs, all modifications that weren't saved etc.

Support!

BTW: Look at this thread. Not exactly the same, but nearly ...

If an application crashes (GPF) it's always very bad and gives the user a strange and unconfident feeling. So even if this crash might occur in only rare and specific case, this should be definitely fixed.

BTW: I disagree with opening the first file upon F11 automatically.

I concur. Doing that would introduce an element of unpredictability into F11.

With set focus to one thumbnail the F11 error won't occur - so why shouldn't it be the first? :?

My suggestion about showing preview of first thumbnail from this thread should be optional - like I've posted.
