Trying to Open a .fac file

I am trying to use XnView to view a .fac file. I went through the association steps and checked the display all image file types box but still recieve the following error message

Format of the file <filename.fac> could not be determined
For display of a less common format, the following option is available:
Options>General>[x]Display all image file types

I have done this and still get the message.
