file associations not working...

how can i instruct windows 7 64 bit to open my jpeg files with xnview. i already have the files i want opened checked in the xnview as associations. i also have tryed to select 'open with" (xnview) in windows, but it reverts back to another program. windows gives me a choice to open with several progerams to view my image files, but even when i select xnview, they wont open with it
