Funny that, because there are three options available. Granted, all three use different namespaces and display differently in different applications that support XMP, but as the old saying goes, it's better than nothing. Nothing is what XnView has now.
May I introduce:
1. IPTC CORE EXTENDED EVENT
2. IVIEW (now Phase One) MEDIA PRO EVENT
3. EXPRESSION MEDIA EVENT
(when the GUI app that was #2 belonged to Microsoft)
It doesn't make a lot of difference in the long run. Keep in mind, however, that many Linux viewers will show the above but pay no attention at all to anything IPTC. For consistency's sake, if nothing else, I'd like to see either #2 or #3 insinuated in a future XnView version. I've yet to come across an application in either Windows or Linux that shows XMP label data that does not show one or the other of those. Too many apps also ignore #1, or they confuse it for something else. Again, this has been my experience, YMMV.

Re: IPTC Fixture Id doesn't copy to XMP
For the moment, here's a stdout ("burp-back") of one file from Exiv2 in my Cygwin install .xnview wrote:could you send me samples?
Code: Select all
# exiv2 -px bucketwife-07-189-007.jpg | grep Event
Xmp.expressionmedia.Event XmpText 15 Non Nude & Sexy
Xmp.mediapro.Event XmpText 15 Non Nude & Sexy
Xmp.iptcExt.Event LangAlt 15 Non Nude & Sexy
As I mentioned in my OP, the Media Pro builds, PhaseOne's and the much older iView versions, don't recognize that one, but most other image viewers that can view or edit XMP labels see it intuitively or, in the case of Gwenview or Digikam in Linux, with the kipi-plugin package. XnView MP can display it via Exiftool.Event Lang Alt External Names or describes the specific event at which the photo was taken.
I'll try to supply you with a genuine JPEG file you can examine to see where these labels go in the file code shortly.

Has this been changed in, for or prior to version 2.2.0 ?
