Change the FORMAT

Post by Clo »

:) Hello !
- Yes, just at the tip of your nose :P

- Menu “Image" >> Convert to colours
- Then, you can choose colour-features…
I tested with a small GIF "binary", so Black & White that I drawn specially to see if it works ;)
- Indeed, only the format shall be changed, XnView will not add any supplemental colour !

 Kind regards,
Claude

:) Hi again !

- If you want for add colours to this image really, it's a bit more complicated…
- A doable way, which doesn't need any special software :

• Copy the image you converted into 256-c format (although it's B&W still) in XnView :
Edit Menu >> Copy
• Paste it into MS-Paint (set the size similar to the original image size, of course)
- Save it as BMP 256 colours if you want to keep it as GIF finally, or more if another better format is convenient.
- Paint the colours you wish to add… When ended, save the *.BMP.
- In Paint, you can too save the pic directly as *.GIF (256 colours maximum) or JPEG (true colours…):
File menu >>> Save as… >> Scroll the list to choose the format.

- Hoping that'll do the trick,

 Kind regards,
Claude

Xnview is primarily a viewer/converter, as such it has no drawing tools. If you want to add color to a specific part of the image, you'll have to do it with some other program. On the other hand, you can add tint to the enitre image by going image->adjust->hue/saturation/lightness. Turn up the saturation, then adjust the hue.

If you want to change individual colours in the colour map, you open the image in view mode and then you select "Image > Edit Colour map". The colour map with all colours used in the GIF is displayed. Now you can change individual colours and for example change your b/w image to a brown/yellow image.

As written above, there's many ways to change the colours of your GIF. If the above and my replies do not answer your question, please write in a bit more detail what you want to achieve.
