0.53: It just happened again

Post by soulky »

I have already reported that sometimes XnviewMP suddenly changes the browser view from Thumbnails+Filename to Thumbnails & Labels without warning and without being told to do so.
I have as well already reported that XnViewMP happens to "forget" all the thumbnails that have been already created and indexed while they are still in the database, they are no longer visible in browser view.

Maybe these 2 events are related as it just happend again and almost 45000 thumbnails have gone and need to be recreated.

What happend? Suddenly the browser view changed from thumbnails+filename to thumbnails & labels. And when I switched back to thumbnails and labels, all thumbnails were gone and it Xnview started to recreate them one by one. :x :x :x :x :x

While all thumbnails are getting recreated also it is happening again what I have reported before: The database size grows. To make it clear: All thumbnails had been already created all files had been indexed already.
Through some bug XnvieMP drops all thumbnails, the database size remains the same. This means all thumbnails are still there. When XnvieMP starts to recreate the thumbnails the database size grows, which means instead of simply fetching the the thumbnails again which are already stored in database, it recreates and stores them again. This is not only time consuming, it wears out the hard drives and spends ressources for nothing. And it seems that this behaviour can happen anytime and anytime again.

There is a fundamental flaw with the code.

I can't reproduce :(
When thumbnaisl are created if you change from Thumb+Labels to Thumb+Filename, do you have the issue?
Pierre.
