how to open CMP file?

I have an old artscreen screensaver where the pictures have the extension .cmp. I tried to open the pictures to see them on my new (windows 7) laptop. Xnview documentation says it can work with these files, but even when I check 'all files' the .cmp is not supported. Am I missing something? How can I view and perhaps convert .cmp files? Thank you, Anne
