Batch Rename of files to remove numbers.

Post by DrewLow »

Hello. I apologize if this has been asked before, but I have searched and didn't find an answer.

I have a few pictures with numbers at the beginning, for example:
135423543_Tree01.jpg
135435235_Tree05.jpg
135452351_Tree11.jpg
and so on.

I wish to remove the numbers and the underscore but leave the 'Tree' part. The files are a series, but I do not have all of the pictures in the series, I am missing a few. Therefore, I cannot just rename to "Tree##" and keep the same numbers the images currently have.

I have tried doing a replace using *_ but it doesn't recognize that. Is there a way to remove the numbers and underscore without having to rename each image individually?

Thanks for the help!

Ant Renamer can do that: http://www.antp.be/software/renamer.

No doubt some of the many other freeware renaming utilities can also do it.
