One cannot refresh the database (special) folders in order to show the added/removed photos from these folders.
Steps to reproduce:
0. Have some folders with photos 'Folder1', 'Folder2' etc.
1. Open XnView. Be sure that you do not have any file tagged.
2. Go to 'Folder1' and tag 3 (three) files
3. Go to 'Categories' pane and look at the 'Tag' branch - it should read 'Tag (3)'. Click on it. The three tagged files should appear in the thumbnail area.
4. Go back to the 'Folders' pane, click on the same folder - all the photos from that folder will appear - and tag another 2 (two) files.
5. Go back to 'Categories' pane and look at the 'Tag' branch - it should read ' Tag (5)' which is correct. Click on it.
Expected: The 5 tagged files should appear.
Actual: The old view from the step 4 (IOW all the photos from the folder) remains. IOW, the tree from the left is out of sync with the thumbnail panel.
Implementation considerations:
It seems that the updating engine looks if the Clicked tree item in the Categories pane is the same with the Last Selected one. This makes enough sense because DB queries tend to be slow. However the pane (tab sheet) switching between Folders / Favorites / Categories isn't correctly handled. In fact, ISTM that this event isn't handled at all. I'd propose that when the user change the actual tab sheet / pane between Folders / Favorites / Categories, the program must update the thumbnail view to reflect the correct tree item highlighted on the left.

Btw, I have in Options > Browser > Browser the "Auto Refresh" and "Synchronize Browser selection with current View" checked.
Btw, does someone know what these checkboxes mean?
