I tried different codecs and different splitters, but the result stays the same:
As soon as xnview plays a high definition (1920x1080) .mov file in fullscreen mode it crashes when I press ESCAPE (= end the playback in the middle of the playback).
Smaller .movs (e.g. 320x240) work fine, high definition .avi or .mp4 files also work fine.
Playing the same files in the preview pane (= non-fullscreenview) works without crashes.
The codec of the .mov files is AVC1, but as I wrote, I switched to different splitters and different decoders and the result is the same.
Playing the files with Windows Media Player or Zoom Player or VLC is no problem.
