XnView installation fails can't register dll)

Post by rudio »

Hello,

I tried to install XnView 2.10 extended on my PC (Windows7 home premium 64bit), but I had to cancel the process due to one or more error messages like this one:

I tried to install in administrator mode, tested the "SageThumbs" trick, but nothing worked. What can I do to update the existing version successfully?

"Xbmf.dll"

1. Make sure the existing XN version is NOT running.
2. Make sure no other program blocks this file (virii/antivirii)
3. Delete the old installation manually directory "XnView" or "PlugIns" at least
4. Use the ZIP
There is indeed no WinZIP under my rock.

Dear Pierre,

strange behaviour: I can see the picture, if I'm logged into the forum. If I log out, it disappears ... ?

Thanks for this tip. I'll try this soon and report the result.

Hi all,

the brandnew XNView v2.11 installed itself perfectly, at least in administrator mode. No special measures like deactivation of AV software, were taken.

thanks anyhow
