Disabled toolbar buttons and menues
Hello,
I have XnViewMp 0.64 open in browser.
Now when I click on a folder in "folders treeview" for each file of that folder a thumbnail is displayed and the first file is selected automatically (because of a global option).
In case of an image (e.g. *.jpg) is selected now,
- both toolbar buttons "rotate clockwise" and "rotate counter clockwise" are disabled
- menu "Edit IPTC/XMP..." is also disabled.
I have to click on another file and click again on this selected file to get the buttons and menu enabled.
In case of e.g. a *.txt file is selected the behaviour is ok;
but in case of an *.jpg image the buttons and the menu should be enabled.
Thanks for the correction in advance.
Herb

Re: Disabled toolbar buttons and menues
i've tried on Xp too, and can't reproduce this problem

Pierre.
Re: Disabled toolbar buttons and menues
Hello Pierre,
thanks for your investigations.
As the problem occurs on my machine always, but never on your system I did some further tests.
The result I found: the error depends on the mode all files are diplayed when I click on new treeview item.
In case of files are displayed as list or in details mode everything is ok.
But when files are displayed as icons or a thumbnail is displayed for each file the error occurs.
(When I talk about the error, I only talk about 2 icons in toolbar (rotate left/right) and 1 menu item (Edit IPTC/XMP...)).
Best regards
Herb

Re: Disabled toolbar buttons and menues
Hello,
Till now I talked about *.JPG images.
But I have another question:
In case of e.g. a *.ORF is selected the 2 tollbar button "rotate left/right" become enabled, although XnViewMP cannot rotate such images in browser.
Best regards

Hello Pierre,
yes I always have this problem when I click on another treeview item.
But for each file a thumbnail or icon must be displayed (as I wrote on 17.3.).

Re: Disabled toolbar buttons and menues
I can't reproduce...
could you try by enabling Database>Enable thumbnail caching?
could you try by enabling Database>Enable thumbnail caching?
Pierre.
Re: Disabled toolbar buttons and menues
Hello Pierre,
I worked also with "Database>Enable thumbnail caching", but still identical behaviour.
Only to avoid misunderstandings I took a screenshot. After start of XnViewMP directory F:\ was selected.
Then I selected directory "F:\EIXM_Bilder" with mouse - image P6140385.jpg is selected automatically - but both toolbar buttons "rotate" and context menu "edit IPTC/XMP are disabled (as shown in screenshot).
Best regards

Good screenshot.
1. If you go to another JPG file, the buttons become enabled?
2. If you go to another TXT/DOC/whatever file which cannot be rotated and after that come back to a JPG, the buttons become enabled?
3. If you disable the 'Select first file on entering folder' the program works ok?

Re: Disabled toolbar buttons and menues
Hello,
please find the answers to your questions. Starting with a GUI as seen in screenshot:
ad 1): I select another *.JPG image: Both toolbar buttons and also the menu item become enabled
ad 2): I select e.g. a *.TXT file: Both toolbar buttons remain disabled, the menu item becomes enabled and works fine
I select e.g. a *.ORF file: Both toolbar buttons became enabled (although XnViewMP cannot rotate a *.ORF image) and menu item remained disabled
ad 3): I unchecked 'Select first file on entering folder'.
After I had selected another directory (of course) no image was selected and (of course both toolbar buttons were disabled).
Clicking on a file I had an identical behaviour as describe in answers above
Best regards
Herb
