Does not view/preview large images.

Post by Bobb »

I'm trying this program out as a replacement for the venerable (but still fast and stable) ACDSee Classic (or V3.1).
I performed a quickee comparison between my much loved ACDSee Classic, XnView and FastOne.

Open a large image. 623 MB panorama (43,269 pixels wide by 6110 pixels tall)
ACDSee - 10 seconds
FastOne - failed to build a preview. Completely choked in my directory containing various panoramas from 136MB to 623 Mb.
XnView - Inconsistent in operation. Created preview of largest image in about 9 seconds but failed to create one for next image which was only 128Mb in size.

Create thumbnails. 281 images, about 6Mb each, total 1.44GB in directory
ACDSee - 40 seconds
FastOne - 38 seconds
XnView - 31 seconds

Not being able to view huge, massive, gargantuan, really big images is a deal killer for me. Is this performance consistent with others experience?
Aside from this problem with large images, I love the program. I might even be willing to pay for it.
