In XnView (classic) I frequently applied the sort option to have the files sorted by EXIF Date before renaming and numbering.
This option is no longer available, Or should I do the sorting beforehand in the Explorer and THEN do the Batch Rename?
Have to bring it up again.
This is my standard procedure when renaming my jpg files and it´s the only reason for me to stay with 2.22 on my machine.
Still missing in Version 0.68.

However, I might thinking about it if you DO NOT go to XnView MP - Suggestions forum and (re)post this as a minor feature request.
It will get lost here.
However you CAN workaround this limitation, hence no real need for the Classic version, by sorting the files/thumbs in the Thumbs pane, before triggering the Rename dialog. Showing the Sorting Header helps a ton here. Go to View | Sort by... | Show Header in order to display it.
I´m missing the "sort" function in batch rename in XnViewMP like shown in the screenshots below.
Would be nice to have it back in one of the next versions.
As long as this is not implemented you can simply sort the files in the viewer mode. The file list in the batch rename window represents the sort order from the viewer mode.
