Move to subfolders via hotkey

Post by austingaijin »

I have a usecase where I have a folder with, for example, 30,000 images. I want to quickly but manually move these images into specific subfolders (as I preview them) using a hotkey. So, for example, I want to assign Ctrl-1 (or Command-1 since I'm on OS X) to move the image to Sub1, and Ctrl-2 to move the image to Sub2, etc. Where I define the subdirectory associated with the hotkey. I think Ctrl-1 to Ctrl-9 would be sufficient.

Because there are so many images, it would be great if MP jumped to the next image automatically when the current image is moved. It would also be great if the list of folders (1-9) was shown in a pane somewhere for quick reference.

1. Select the files you want to move
2. Press Alt+M (the Move To... dialog appears)
3. Press Ctrl+A (it selects all the text from the Move To... destination) To Pierre: It would be best if this text would be already selected.
4. Type in the name of the subfolder {Enter} {Enter} (twice - the 2nd one is for 'Create Folder?' confirmation)

Enjoy!

Note to Pierre: Yes, it would be very nice if BEFORE the movement the next photo will be selected in order to continue from there.
