JPEG TO PDF/A Multipage?

Post by JPEG_TO_PDF/A »

Hello!

Is it possible to convert multiple jpg images to one multipage pdf/a file?

multi-frame-file pdf creates only adobe pdf-version 1.3.

The short answer is no, unfortunately...

PDF/A is in any case -- as you may already know -- a series of standards:

http://en.wikipedia.org/?title=PDF/A

If you are only concerned with PDFs consisting solely of images, then many of the considerations that normally arise when creating a PDF/A file won't apply, which is at least some simplification.

In general you would normally need to use commercial software such as Adobe Acrobat to create a PDF/A file, in which case you wouldn't need to use XnView software first. I don't know if there might possibly be any free or low-cost websites that could convert a standard PDF file to PDF/A.

The Wikipedia link indicates that MS Word 2007 onwards can output to PDF/A, as can the open source OpenOffice or LibreOffice. But whether a multi-image PDF file created using XnView software could be opened and then saved in either application, I'm not sure without doing some tests...

Edit:

Possible good news: I've opened one of my multi-image PDF files in LibreOffice Draw and been able to save it using the 'Export as PDF...' PDF/A-1a option, and Adobe Reader opens it with the comment 'This file claims compliance with the PDF/A standard and has been opened read-only to prevent modification' :)
