Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a way to search all graphic files?.
I would like to see thumbnails of all the graphic files (any format) I have on my hard disk. I have seen that the search dialog has an option to search "all video formats" and "all sound formats" but there is no option for "All graphic formats". Is there a way to add this option?.
Thanks so much!

Re: How Search All Graphic files
As you have found out yourself, in the list of formats an entry "All graphic files" is missing. I also think that such an entry would be helpful and good.Gregorio wrote:Does anyone know if there is a way to search all graphic files?.
I doubt that this will work out. If you have a medium number of images (<10.000) on your hard disk, this might work, but if you have really lots, this might cause memory problems in XnView, I think. Also, if you make a change in XnView, the search result will be lost and you have to search again. So not really a solution.Gregorio wrote:I would like to see thumbnails of all the graphic files (any format) I have on my hard disk. Thanks anyway
Thanks Helmut!. At least I know that there is not an option that I missed.
Another way…

- As a workaround, you could try to install Total Commander with which it's possible to perform such a handling.I would like to see thumbnails of all the graphic files (any format) I have on my hard disk…
- This needs a powerful machine, though, having a pretty big amount of RAM, and to configure TC alright.
- Display the “Branch View” >> Ctrl+B for the drive from which you wish to display graphic files as thumb-nails.
- That could take a looooong while to display all files…
- Search for your image-formats, it's possible to set a bunch of types as one go like :
*.gif *.bmp *.jpg *.png *.xyz
- Launch the Search for these types in the Branch View panel,
- When ended, press the button "Feed to Listbox" : all found image-files will be displayed in the active panel,
- Choose "Thumb-nail view" in the "Show" Menu, et voilà !
• You must configure the thumb-nails method in the Options of TC as "XnView method", and set the types you need to display as thumb-nails.
- You can exclude some types like you want too, writing them as :
*.* |*.excluded_type1 *.excluded_type2 etc.
in the field of the TC Options >> Thumbnails …
- I made a test in that way, I got 12,612 graphic-files in the whole HD, I could display them as thumb-nails without any problem, just a certain delay

Win 98 SE - P IV @2.4 GHz - 512 MB DD-RAM (approx. 300 MB free)
• Hoping this helps,
