Annoying SaveAs behaviour

There is a quiet annoying trend going on with the Save as Button i recently see in the Applications around the net and that is not to save the image in its original path.
For example. I open up a image , xnview shows up, i do some edits to it and want to save as another format. Instead of opening the path where the image had been opend (wich would be logical) it opens the path where the LAST image had been saved wich is in 90% a complete different location. This results in a tremendous waste of time navigating to the path where one opend the image and save it. For me thats actually a Show stopper. Atleast a Menu entry "Save in original path" or something would be really usefull.
