Opening by clicking an image

Post by dwlamb »

I am new to Xnview. I found it when looking for an alternative to Gwenview under Kubuntu. I like the features except for a major annoyance. If I open an image by clicking on it, Xnview opens in full screen (more like full window mode, not full screen space available). It is necessary to click the browse icon on the tool bar to see things as I would prefer.

Doing some research, I have tried to modify this behaviour through Settings -> General -> Startup and unchecking Open browser as well as Fullscreen when starting with a file.

Is there a way to solve this? A switch to add to the execute command in menu settings or the program desktop file?

Full screen or full window view of an image is the opposite of what I want. If I click on an image in a file manager, I want Browser mode (see attachment). It seems Xnview will only open in Browser mode if I open the program directly instead of clicking an image.

No. I want to browse the sub-directory where the image is located. As I stated in my first post, it is necessary to click the Browse icon to get the view I want. The screen shot shows the lay-out I desire. The tab behind it that would show only the image is not desired.
