Hi,
what I found here in the forum is XnViewMP saves all my modifications regarding a picture rating for example in the XnView.db file, correct?
So that means everything I do in XnViewMP (rate pictures with xy stars & co) stays in XnViewMP only? For example I can't see the xy ratings for my pictures I've done in XnViewMP in AfterShot Pro 1 or Darktable or ...?
This is also true the other way round? So when I rate pictures in last mentioned programs (which stores such info in *.JPG.xmp files imho) XnViewMP don't show these picture ratings?

Re: Ratings between XnViewMP and other programs
you need to enable settings>metadata>Export... to use IPTC/XMP metadata

Re: Ratings between XnViewMP and other programs
I've ticked that but there is now *.JPG.xmp file written when I rate a picture for example

strg+1 (for 1 star) for example
Re: Ratings between XnViewMP and other programs

Re: Ratings between XnViewMP and other programs
I write in more details here to clarify things... I want to use XnViewMP and other programs like AfterShot Pro 1 or Darktable in parallel. All these programs should see the ratings I've done (regardless in which program I've set the ratings).xnview wrote:are you sure that .xmp is created by *.JPG.xmp?? So you suggested to enable settings>metadata>Export... which I've done.
So I thought after enabling these settings XnViewMP writes a *.JPG.xmp file when I rate a picture (for example with strg+1 for 1 star) (or edit if there was already a *.JPG.xmp file there from another program for example) so other programs can see this rating. Is that the case!?
Next open question is how XnViewMP handles already present ratings from above mentioned other programs (which writes there ratings in *.JPG.xmp files)!?
Re: Ratings between XnViewMP and other programs
XnViewMP doens't (currently) use .xmp companion file, but write in the file itself metadataheart1010 wrote: Next open question is how XnViewMP handles already present ratings from above mentioned other programs (which writes there ratings in *.JPG.xmp files)!?
