Do you use Xnview primarily as a viewer or as a browser?

Xnview: image viewer or image browser?

Post by Drahken »

I use Xnview almost purely as an image viewer. In fact, I almost never browse images with any program (not unless you count using the scrollwheel to jump to the next file). The only browsing I ever do is in the open dialog, when I'm not completely sure which image i want to open.
In contrast, many of the posts here indicate that people use Xnview more for browsing than viewing, and the program itself seems more geared toward browsing (one example being the fact that ctrl+v is used in browser mode, leaving only the shift+ctrl+v substitute for viewer mode. With the way I use it, I would have designed all the easy/common shortcuts to viewer mode and let browser mode make do with whatever was leftover).
All of this leads me to ask the question of whether most people use Xnview in browser mode, or in viewer mode, or use it equally in both modes.

It's the primary program I use for resizing, bumping the gamma, tweaking saturation, etc. From what I've seen it has the best crop tool around, hands down.

(I have Windows ME, so for what isn't in My Pictures I always customize any other image folders I create, for Image Preview).
