0.72 Linux - Double-Click doesn't open

Post by dietmar »

Pierre, I think I remember having read about a similar bug here, but I cannot find it.

The problem is that sometimes double-clicking a thumbnail does not open Xnview's internal viewer but instead the OS'es standard external viewer for the kind of file selected even if it's a simple image file, in my case a PNG file.

This is how I could reproduce this effect on Linux x32. The task is to scan three images using Xsane into PNGs and then open each one using Xnview.

1. Open Xsane, scan the first image to Image_001.PNG

2. Open Xnview, navigate to the folder holding the image file.

3. The thumbnail of the newly scanned image is seen. Double-click on it. Xnview's internal viewer displays the image in a new tab. Fine, that's expected.

4. Close the image viewer tab, but keep Xnview running.

5. Switch back to Xsane. Scan Image_002.PNG

6. Switch back to Xnview. Notice that Image_002.PNG is listed but no thumbnail shown. There's just the generic file icon.

7. Double-click on the thumbnail, i.e. file icon. Ubuntu opens its external image viewer and shows the image. Wrong!

8. Close the image viewer. Still keep Xnview running.

9. Switch back to Xsane. Scan Image_003.PNG

10. Switch back to Xnview. Again the new file is there but misses a thumbnail.

11. Select "Open" from the right-click menu - or navigate to the new image and press Ctrl-O. Xnview opens the image in a new tab as it should.

Thus there is a problem with files added to a folder already open in browser. Ctrl-O/Open works as it should, double-clicking does not.

strange that you have not the thumbnail for new file.
The problem here is that new file is not recognized as image, so is opened by external program.
Pierre.
