XnView MP not recognized in Win XP

I have installed XnView and the program functions normally when I select it from the Programs List. I wish XnView MP to be the associated program when I open a .jpg file. I am unable to establish the association. XnView MP is not in the list of "open with" recommended programs. If I browse for XnViewMP.exe and select it, still the association is not made. The previous version of XnView I was using could be associated with .jpg as expected.

Current version: 0.76 XNViewMP

This is a reported issue, Pierre. "Associate files with XnViewMP.exe" fails to run on Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit). Minimun supported operating system should be set for Windows XP. It is currently set for Windows Vista.

Could we please see a fix for this?

I have just downloaded XnViewMP 0.76 for Windows (zip archive) and inspected in Windows XP SP3 32bit. Both "xnviewmp.exe" and "Associate files with XnViewMP.exe" run fine.

64-bit xnviewmp.exe runs fine here as well on XP x64 SP2. This was never the issue.

I'm still getting the following error when trying to run 64-bit "Associate files with XnViewMP.exe":

This is what PE Editor shows for "Associate files with XnViewMP.exe" extracted from zip archive of 0.76 for Windows x64.

Alternate solution is to explicitly declare on front page System Requirements for XnViewMP like "Vista/7/8/8.1/10".
P.S. btw, why xnviewmp.exe from 0.76 archives for Windows has in its properties "File version 0.69.0.0" and "Product version 0.75"?
