Automated GIFs Freeze & Don't Loop in Slide Show

I just downloaded v2.34 of XnView. The software looks flexible but I am not able to use it for the specific reason I downloaded it. Perhaps I am doing something wrong.

When playing automated GIFs in Slide Show, they play for about 4 seconds and then freeze. It does not matter whether I set Transition TImer 20 seconds or to Use Keyboard Press. I have searched for a setting that may be in error but no luck. Ideally, the GIFS will play themselves out and then loop. Is there a way to get them to loop? Thanks!

I should also mention that I am running Windows 10. And that XnView crashes regularly after only about 20 slides of the 30 in the Slide Show.
