windows file association is only available on Win 7/8/10. You need to use checkbox above

Eee...? Are You sure??? When I use Application Verifier and "hack" Xnview into Windows 7 I can register all extensions. Without it I cannot do it. IMHO Vista has exactly the same extenstions engine as 7.
