Fit to Window image scaling artifacts

Post by bucklee416 »

I'm using 0.79, I've mentioned this issue before but didn't have an example at the time. Here is a good one.

My desktop resolution is 1920x1200 and looking at 3648x5472 images with Fit to Window can show really harsh edges. Doesn't happen in regular XNView in the same circumstances.

First is the screen shot showing the artifact, and then original image at full size to play with yourself.

Horizontally, between the tip of the nose and the nostrils.

Exactly. It's the edge or line running through the nose. It's the View -> Zoom High Quality setting. When it's enabled, you see it. When it's not, there is still a very, very subtle line there, but much harder to see. Zooming through even steps with + and - work fine. It's just the Fit to Window in combination with my desktop res and the image res I guess.

I don't see any Sharpen settings, but if you can tell me where to look I can confirm. This is with the Fullscreen viewer, if the screen shot didn't give it away.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView 0.84. Could you please check and confirm, bucklee416?
