rebuilt thumbnails

I have noticed that rebuilt thumbnails is overrided if the option reuse embedded thumbnails is on. Is there any way to avoid this behavior? This mean if use use rebuild thumbnails it does nothing if embedded thumbnails is on.

I would prefer to have by default embedded thumbnails on by default but being able to rebuild thumbnails in specific images when needed. Now I need to choose one option or another.
