0.83: Search on UNC path loses pathname

Post by appyface »

Using XnViewMP 0.83 Win7 Pro SP1 x64.

Browsing UNC path on network works fine. But not possible to search? The search UI result shows the path searched as ./UI/Icons-48 instead of UNC path being browsed. Browising same file directory and searching it on computer with local files works fine.

Can this be fixed?

Thank you and Kind regards.

i've tried and it works. On your screenshot, i don't see the folder used between filename and regexp, seems to be blank??

Thank you for your reply.

I am using the same steps in XnViewMP whether UNC path or local path? I am providing the path?

From the local system with the files:

1. I enter path in the top pane (top area circled in screenshot). The files and subfolders in the path populate in the area below it.
In above screenshot, equivalent local path is H:\camera\ispy_wip\20161022.

2. I press CTRL-F, search dialog appears.
It remembers my previous settings including regex so I click on "search" button.

3. A result dialog box appears listing the files found within my path, so I click "view" button.

From a remote system with UNC path access, I do same steps:

1. I enter the UNC path in the top pane (screenshot), just like local system. The same files and subfolders populate in area below it, as do on local system with equivalent local path.

2. I press CTRL-F, search dialog appears.
It remembers my previous settings including regex so I click on "search" button.

3. No files are ever found. The path searched is shown as ./UI/Icons-48 (screenshot).

So it is not working for me? Yes, search box area you mention is blank when the path I specified to XnViewMP is UNC path. If path I specified is a local path, the last folder node of that local path appears in that area.

So search does not appear to "see" the path if it is UNC path?

Ok, it's the problem. Your server has a name instead of an ip?

I always use IP everywhere else I use UNC paths, so I did not think about trying the network name.

It worked with network name. Search shows the last folder node in the previously blank area and found the files.

If it is possible to have XnViewMP also work with IP in UNC path I think that would be good as IP works everywhere else I use it?

But I do have a workaround now and can use the search. Thank you for your help!
