Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit: No Video - blank screen

Title says it all. Stills work fine, video may give various messages, but nothing ever appears - blank screen.

Help !?!

yes a known issue on linux since lastest version

Any further information on videos don't work, stills work ok, in Ubuntu 16.04 ?

i've updated the linux package, now the video playing should be good

A tiny bit better with the new version. Most don't say convert to 8 bit, open directly to black screen. A very few will play the audio track. None will show the video.

Further ideas?

and you have installed all gstreamer plugins?

I did before, but not since the update, which I guess was installed over the earlier one. I didn't uninstall it.

Perhaps I should get complete exact instructions on where to get them, exactly how to do it, etc. and repeat the installation.
