Thank you for registering to the XnView forum, Guuz. In Tools » Settings... | Browser » Thumbnails | Appearance there are various settings for the look of thumbnails. There you can set the colour of the thumbnail cell for example.
If you want to control the colour of the background not covered by thumbnails, you have to edit the Qt stylesheet. Let us know in case you need more detailed support.

Please note that there is a Dark Theme available: Browser | View » Theme » Dark theme
