Tiling in image view
I think I saw such a function in Ifran View (or however..). It whould be really really great to see in the image view if a texture is seamlessly tilable (maybe via hotkey as well)

Re: Tiling in image view
I wonder how this is supposed to work: Will XnView say "Yes, this bitmap is tilable" or will XnView temporarily tile the bitmap and the user has to decide?eweryboooody wrote:I think I saw such a function in Ifran View (or however..). To make a texture seamless there are free filters for adobe (e.g. from Redfield). I don't think XnView can spot that, the effect can be very subtle. But still if you have made a texture seamless it would be very good to see the result, especially in combination with zooming out. That way you can spot repetition (the eye is very good at that which is why we want to avoid it in gaming)). I am currently making terrain textures for a flightsim and tile view would be very handy. Zooming out would then simply fill your screen with the same texture to all sides, with which I could judge if flying high above the landscape will show a repetition (so I don't need to load the flight sim all the time). So only repetition viewing is asked nothing more...

oh I didn't answer yet: Gotcha is right:
only view tiling on/off whould be cool. Nothing more.
Maybe this could be on a hotkey like M for alpha as well..
I'd suggest to fill up the grey space in "View" mode with the repeated tiles (or maybe even offer an option how many tiles you'd like to see vertically and horizontally)

I would like to bump this feature, it would be a great help for checking game textures that need to be repetitive. A good example of how it works is the tool amp tiel viewer

I hope this is still on the todo list

hey gotcha! I still use xnView for watching photos and stuff but for work I switched to ddsview:
http://www.amnoid.de/ddsview/
It completely free and supports tiled view (M) and Alpha of course (A) and combined alpha (B) as well as browsing through mipmap stages (left/right) but it doesn't downscale large images and forgets settings ...
the developer sadly moved to mac and ditched developing ddsview since 2005. But there is Sourcecode as well! I didn't manage to look into it but maybe its a good point to start coding c++ finally ^^.

I hope this is still on the todo list too.
I used to use AMP Tile Viewer, lately I found Imagine has this feature.
It would be a great benefit if XnView support this feature.
