XnView and Category

Hi, I would like to put more then one Photo in one step into a category (i.e. a full directory with 1.000 photos selected by <ctrl>+a), but I found no way to do this. What can I do? (XnView V.2.39-privat)

There remains the question, what the function from "view / set categories ..." (Ansicht / Kategorien zuordnen ...) should do?

Thanks for the fast answer, I had hope so.
The function doesn't work (nothing) - now I have re-installed XnView and its works ... what ever.
