"No settings" in Effects

"No settings" in Effects

I don't see any or minimal changes on Effects Many of them has "no settings" and I don't know how to set. I cannot find any instructions either. Please, help me.
I use Linux and XNview Version 0.86 64bits

Some filters can only be seen on picture with a 100% zoom
