How to open pictures in windowed-mode?

Every time I open pictures they are full screen. How do I open pictures in windowed-mode when I double click on them?

Just use the setting shown in the picture.

To open file formats associated with XnView MP from [Windows] Explorer, or to open files from the browser?

Possibly this setting:

I can't immediately test as I don't have any file formats associated with 'MP.
