XnView 2.43 - HEIF Plugin - no previews for Portrait Mode photos from an iPhone

I'm using the most recent HEIF plugin. While in thumbnail view .heic images taken with iPhone's Portrait Mode open normally as expected but have no previews.

Oh yeah, you're right. I have all of my settings set to preserve originals but it looks like even my JPG reference image from the iPhone has the same checksum as the HEIC file. Looks like a bug (feature?) of iOS. I'll report it to them.

Edit: it was because of iCloud on Windows. Looking at my library over USB revealed that portrait mode pictures are always saved as JPG. Case closed, thank you for pointing this out
