Unable to remove color labels

There are some files which i marked with a color label that i can't set to "Uncolored" anymore... does anyone have suggestions on how to solve this?
I've had this issue a few times before but just deleting and then copying the files again doesn't seem like that great of a solution...

Any ideas are greatly appreciated :/

When a file is marked with a colour label or a star rating, you must check some options :
Tools, Settings, Metadata :

If you want to write marks in file's metatdata and not only in database,
Enable : "Export DB category to XMP subject and IPTC keyword"
Choose also "create XMP data", and "export colour label in xmp data" or "export rating in xmp data"

When you want to delete both (database mark and xmp marks), the same options must be enabled, otherwise xmp metadata may persist.

If you want to mark files only in database, dont use any of these options (and create sometimes backups of your xnview.db file)

Check in the xmp metadata (Xmp or ExifTool Tab in info panel) if the marks are really deleted .
Then you can use "View" menu and click "Update catalog from file " to remove mark in the database...
