Uncheck Tools > Settings... > View -- View tab -- Show highlight selection

You can also now in 0.93 select whether a grid is shown within a selection: Selection -- Rule of thirds / Phi grid or Normal [no grid].

What is the difference between XnView and XnViewMP?

XnView is the future, and cross-platform with Unicode support, available in a 64-bit version, and with a new attractive interface, if you're happy with it continue with it... :D

Thank you very much!

Oops, I thought of it the other way, vice versa, and exchanged XnView with XnViewMP. So XnViewMP is not the future? Somehow looks more futuristic than XnView. And so I better should re-exchange them? But why is XnViewMP existing then?

Sorry, a slip on my part trying to answer quickly while waiting for a meal in a bar!

No no, no reason to say sorry. Respectively sorry for what? And of course, do not let the meal (may be a tasty oatmeal) get cold.
