Paste Special - Side by side and/or vertically

It would be useful to have a feature (like in IrfanView) to paste images from clipboard above/below/left/right the shown image.
It's a fast way to join images without the need to save them before joining, pasting directly from clipboard.

Can you devs add this very useful feature?

In IrfanView it's called Paste Special and can be accessed from the Edit menu.
